All sold under the fantasy of being uncertificated films at the Tatler Club in *********** , many years ago. If the film did arrive with a certificate then your job as projectionist, when making up the giant reel containing the whole film, was to cut it off. The most exciting event (a real fantasy) was being told that you were going to help with the spotlight for the live striptease show on Tuesday . . . Fancy that, being a teenager and getting to do follow spot on a . . . 40+ year-old stripper - you could see every wrinkle - just like HD. I guess it was rather akin to the idea of mrsthing doing a live strip show. Didn't deter 'Wally', with his 'brolly', though - he had to be banned. (No, he didn't poke her in the bum with it.)
Actually, I mainly worked in the associated Classic Cinema, where we showed proper films like 'The Way We Were' (Barbra Streisand) and 'The Mechanic' (Charles Bronson). I recall the usual Tatler Club projectionist had a club foot and liked his tipple every now and again. He was ultimately discovered fast asleep in the small projection room, with the film spinning round on the giant reel, having reached the end of the performance, but with the audience still left in darkness and just a white light projecting onto the screen with a sort of quiet hum emanating from the loudspeaker. Just goes to show that the titles (fantasies) were more thrilling than the real thing. It was quite shocking really - the projectionist was the first person I ever saw being fired summarily on the spot, where he stood - ostensibly for being drunk on duty, but really for being bored to tears, I think.

I've alwasys been a rock music fan... and these two are my favourite bands!

OK - I SLEPT WITH JONI MITCHELL!!
Yes, it's true. It happened in a public place in the middle of a snowstorm.
The place was the Toronto International Airport (now Pearson - YYZ) in March of 1973. I was 22 and was graduating from Carleton University, trying to make my way back to Ottawa. She was 27 and very famous. All the planes were cancelled for hours, and there was no way to get to the hotels. I spotted her with her guitar case, half-lying down on a bench and looking gorgeous in a faux-fur bomber jacket. I introduced myself and she smiled and told me she hadn't slept in 48 hours, I had slept the night before but was extremely tired. She moved over and let me sit down. Then we both went to sleep until some fans woke us both up by talking loudly in the background. Ever since then, my cocktail party claim to fame is having slept with Joni. But they don't all get the full story like you just ;)

I was once getting into a lift at the BBC Television Centre in 1977 with a large can of 16mm film under my arm, when a tall, slim very attractive female said in quite a loud, almost sarky kind of voice: "Look, it's Lawrence of Arabia has arrived!" So, I answered her back, telling her that, "actually, it was called 'Wanted - Dead & Alive' - a documentary film I'd made about people's contradictory attitudes to animals;" then proceeded to half chat her up with a few more details. As my (non-TV) friend and I got out of the lift and left the others behind, he turned to me in a kind of half daze and said, "Did you see who that was?!" I'd been too busy chatting with the woman to know what he was talking about - "No," I replied in all innocence. "Paul and Linda McCartney!" he exclaimed back in amazement. He'd obviously been staring at her other half and I have since wondered whether she ever afterwards mentioned 'Lawrence of Arabia' . . .
(Well, it's Duaste, who built the film projection system which later helped with the launch of her husband's mate's movie company. I was gob smacked when years later, at the time of the 2008 Chelsea Flower Show, I heard about the dedication of his mate's book - but that's only for the initiated - and it was a lower case 'g'.)

Let's see, what should I share with the class today...one of my biggest fantasies is to be with an older man. ( I don't mean a senile old man. At least 10 years older than me, preferably more.) Maturity, intelligence, and life experience really do it for me, and those tend to be rare in men my age. Plus, I do think men look better with age.

Oooh what did you play? I've played in a few bands. I've played the electric bass since I was 15, and am saving up to one day own a double bass.
Hm, what else...I've often thought of the professor-student thing. Not necessarily any specific professor, just the idea of it. I think it's related to my fondness for older men.
I don't know if it's a fantasy exactly, but I LOVE lingerie, especially corsets. I could spend hours in a lingerie shop, and luckily I have a bit of self control or else I would spend every penny in my name buying corsets online. (I've only bought one. Ok, maybe two. Or three. Just three. No...) They look and feel spectacular!

I was a mediocre guitarist and a not-bad lead singer. So "played" in a band is too strong a word. But I did get to have my way with a few groupies who had alcohol-induced challenges with distinguishing between lack of talent and minor celebrity :) Actually i don't think it really mattered to them.
And Dolly, I prefer spoons to knives. Yogurt, porridge, a few scoops of whipped cream perhaps. I think you are suggesting bacon and eggs? Maybe be even sausages? Oooh, now there's a good one.

Curious fact: as I said, my sexual fantasies involve knives (hard, pointy things touching my skin... Mmmmm...).. The only time when the pointing and touching turned into a murderous spree happened the first time I had sex. I was spending the night at my boyfriend's. The dream consisted of me waking up in the middle of the night, him waking up, him going to the kitchen, him coming back with a knife and stabbing me. I couldn't go back to sleep.

Even though I only managed about 2 hours of sleep last night, I had a most wonderful dream that reminds me...I like bondage. I've been handcuffed once, though it would have been more fun had the man actually been into it and not just doing it to humor me. I would love to be tied down. Sorry Mrsthing, but it's the unfortunate truth. I think many people's real sexual fantasies (sexymoron?) are on highly taboo subjects. I have a friend in the UK who told me of his first "sexual encounter" with a 13 year old girl, when he was 13. She got her knickers caught on some wire crossing a sty from a cornfield, and he helped her to get untangled to the red-faced embarrassment of both. Unfortunately he got his first "scent of a woman" and could never forget it. He said it had such a powerful effect on him that he wanked nonstop for a couple of months (not sure I believed that exactly). The unfortunate part was that as he got older his sexual reality never quite measured up to the intense fantasies that first encounter created, and he started collecting pictures and videos of young girls in compromising situations that almost landed him in jail a couple of times (may have been an exaggeration, to which he was oft given). He's not a pervert, just a slave to that particular fantasy, but unfortunately society doesn't see it that way. Hence my comments.
