100th thread!!!! How about a Pop Quiz?

    2012

I suggest we set a date and time that would work for as many Python "experts" as possible, and have a rapid fire quiz.  It will be first to respond correctly who gets the point, if you get my point. There will be booby prizes as well, of course ;)

If it works well we'll have more, and the winner will get to ask the questions on the next quiz.  It's my bloody idea, so I get to ask the first set of quiz questions, no arguments, awright?

I will also send out an email to everyone who is registered (Admins, maybe you could do that as you have all the members names)

Comments welcome - but I think it will be a hoot.

I'll try but I already know mrsthing and Chris will win, and so will you.

And Zelda will win. And Alex. And everybody actually, except me, but I love games, and I'm a well known cheat in my family, but ONLY cheat at games, not real life. So I'm ready. Let's do this.

Your answers are registered.  The first set of questions will, however, have to be changed

    1.  Are your teeth real?
    2. How about those bazookas?
    3. Is Zelda the Queen of the Universe?

I suppose they should be slightly more oriented towards Monty Python.

The third person to say something intelligent gets a bonus mark to start off with. I will be the judge.

Hint, you can post in the first, second or third person..

Ooooh, I'm having fun all by myself, with a little help from Twinkly..

Ooh, a quiz! I love answering questions! They may not be right but boy do I love spouting out answers! And booby prizes are great, you can never go wrong with boobies.

That being said, I most likely won't win, but I love a challenge.

I don't think any of this was very intelligent, but I give myself a bonus point anyways. (Bonus point may not necessarily count for anything, I just want to say it's there. So there.)

    BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! WRONG!

My teeth are real. My boobs are bodacious and very real. And what was the third thing again?

Zelda the Queen of the Universe? HA! Of which Universe? Our Universe, or the distant universe in the hidden black hole just past unknown Planet 13? Specify.

My teeth & my boobs are real, Zelda is the Woodoo Princess and yeah, questions should be more Monty Python related.

What was the complete name of the Very Silly Party candidate?

True or False: John Cleese was hung out a 5th floor window in "A Fish Called Wanda".

True or False: Kevin Kline is gay.

Which version of the "Meet the Neighbors" sketch does the nun prefer?
  • Jun

    Can't remember the first one.
True, he was hung out - according to the film, but as far as I know, it was just a trick at shooting, so, in this case it's false.
Kevin Kline is not gay, so, false.
Can't remember the last one either! :-(

What I was hoping for was an "event" where we all get online, and do the questions and answers in real time.  That would be a lot of fun, I think.  I guess I didn't explain myself too well.  What do you think Mrsthing?

    2012

Too many time zones, I think.

    Anyway, the answers are:

    1. Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Umbrella Stand Jasper Wednesday
(pops mouth twice) Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable (whinnying) Arthur
Norman Michael (blows squeaker) Featherstone Smith (whistle) Northgot
Edwards Harris (fires pistol, then 'whoop') Mason
(chuff-chuff-chuff-chuff) Frampton Jones Fruitbat (squeaker) Gilbert
(sings) 'We'll keep a welcome in the' (three shots) Williams If I Could Walk That Way Jenkin (squeaker) Tiger-drawers Pratt Thompson (sings) 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' Darcy Carter (horn) Pussycat (sings) 'Don't Sleep In The Subway' Barton Mainwaring (hoot, 'whoop') Smith

    2. TRUE, and well hung he was. AHEM. Yes, he was hanging upside down out a 5th story window.  There was no trick shooting, but he was attached to a rolling platform that was on rails, all hidden by his arms, and there were piano wires up his trousers (you can see them making a crease), so he couldn't fall. They had to do two takes. They show how it was done in the extras on the 20th anniversary edition.

    3. FALSE, as far as I know. But he did an awfully good imitation in the movie about Cole Porter.

    4. The dirty version.

Now that my daughter is out of school, I can't get computer time to save my life. So having a chance to do a live action chat would be very unlikely for me. I'm in the EDT zone. What time zones are the rest of us in?

Would be neat if everyone could work it out.

I'm in the PDT zone, am I the only one??

Dammnit, I've been left behind again! Stop that! Stop it!

I'm going to answer them anyway.

TRUE! Mr. Cleese's gentleman dangle is so long, he had to hang it out a 5th floor window.

PALIN! The very silly party candidate was named Sarah Palin!

I loved that Cole Porter movie, too!

I don't know the answer to the other one.

"Malcolm Peter Brian Telescope Adrian Umbrella Stand Jasper Wednesday (pops mouth twice) Stoatgobbler John Raw Vegetable (whinnying) Arthur Norman Michael (blows squeaker) Featherstone Smith (whistle) Northgot Edwards Harris (fires pistol, then 'whoop') Mason  (chuff-chuff-chuff-chuff) Frampton Jones Fruitbat (squeaker) Gilbert  (sings) 'We'll keep a welcome in the' (three shots) Williams If I Could Walk That Way Jenkin (squeaker) Tiger-drawers Pratt Thompson (sings) 'Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head' Darcy Carter (horn) Pussycat (sings) 'Don't Sleep In The Subway' Barton Mainwaring (hoot, 'whoop') Smith" ......Very Silly

I understand that particular election, won by the Very Silly Party in a rockslide, an avalanche, and a fried egg, was responsible for ending the practice of announcing middle names at elections.  The next election, Malcolm Smith had to run for the Sensible Party.

Of course, somebody could have made that up.

OK, let's get serious (thumble, Sensible Party).

If Alex is on Pacific time, and all the Brits are on GMT, that's only an 8-hour spread, so I don't buy Mrsthing's cop-out "too many time zones".  I mean, have you ever tried to have a conversation with anyone in Australia?  Bloody Hell!  You can only get them between their Koala on the Barbie and Kookooberry Flambe, while you're having your Cap'n Crunch or you're out of luck.  Unless you never sleep, then you're OK.

No, how about Sunday at 5pm GMT, which is 9am PDT and 2pm Eastern.  It will cost the Catholics a few Hail Mary's but I think it's worth it.

    Whaddya say, gang?

You know I hate math and figuring out things. I'm in Central Standard Time. So does that mean 3 p.m. in the afternoon for me? And is it our Sunday in America, or the Brits Sunday?
  • Jun

    2012

You mean I'd have to wake up before noon on a Sunday?!?! I thought you were being sensible!

Actually, I think I can do it, if it works for all involved. I've been waking up at decent hours lately, trying not to let "no-school-summer-laze" hit me.

Central Standard time, Fanny? Are you not doing Daylight Saving time? Whatever, CST is the same as EDT; CDT is an hour earlier than EDT. So if you're in CST, it's 2pm Sunday, and if you're in CDT, it's 1pm Sunday.

I'll try--Mr. Thing is out of town on Sunday, so I can get to the computer. But I have a lot of plans for things to do while he's away, and I may forget. Sorry. I'll do my best.
  • Jun

    2012

Oh my God! Now you've totally confused me! If CST is the same as EDT, then why aren't we just EDT? Also,
do I have a choice as to whether I'm "doing" Daylight Saving Time or not? What if I'm doing it, but the rest of the
area isn't? I don't know if I am or not or if they are or not because they totally changed our Daylight Saving time thing again, THEY being the THEY that is you know, THEM. It's totally whack. One starts and the other ends, and it never seems to be just "normal" time here in the South.
