And that was just Saturday. (Facebook friends will already know this stuff.)

I drank some coffee and it went down the wrong way, and before I knew what was happening I was spraying coffee all over the laptop. I immediately turned it upside down and ran and got a towel and dried it off, but the middle of the keyboard was trashed. Poor Mr. Thing had to go to the Apple store and buy a new one, and he was none too pleased about it. Today he had to take it back so their "Genius" could clone it to the old one for him. The old one was pretty awful anyway. The 6 key cover was missing, and the key bed was getting so it wouldn't register no matter how you wiggled your finger. A lot of the keys had the letters scratched off from years of use. It ran old versions of Microsoft office and Firefox that weren't compatible with any other computers in the house (we have four). I'm thrilled to have a new one, even if I still have to share it. Pleas to Mr. Thing to buy two new laptops went unheeded. Probably because it was my fault the old one died.

My Kiri is sick. He has kidney disease. It doesn't look good. He's at the vet this weekend, being treated. I hope he survives, but I'm not optimistic. Meanwhile, his cage mate, Ama, is going berserk.

I went to an all-class reunion at my high school yesterday. It was exhausting, peering at people's nametags, trying to match a memory to the name, then trying to reconcile the face in front of me with the face I remembered from 30-splunge years ago. But it was interesting to catch up with girls who hated my guts in high school and were so happy to see me yesterday.

My elderly cousin died on Friday. Kind of a relief, as she'd been in a stroke rehab place for the last 4-5 years, unable to speak or care for herself. But she was the last of my mother's generation. Now I'm the oldest generation on my mother's side of the family. There are still a lot of us left, but it's weird to have no elders.

John, may I adopt you? I need a grownup in my life.

Miss Thing's robotics team WON the regional tournament last weekend, earning them a berth at the nationals at the end of next month. Here's a video for anyone who's interested. I just love it when the robot falls over. It's hard to figure out what's going on, but the kids are operating the robots remotely, and they have to get the basketballs into the basket, then, as near the end of the match as possible, they need to balance on the ramp at the side of the pit. The middle ramp gets points, but not at the end of the match. I'm not sure how the scoring goes.

And now we're fundraising like crazy to try to earn the $850/person to get 30 team members and mentors to St. Louis by the end of next month. They had a car wash today...March 17. March 17 is NOT usually car wash weather in southern New England. But it came off warm, so we were in luck.
